Photo Books

Analyze- In this book, I tried to analyze and put things that I liked or found interesting. And in this book you see a lot of pictures of my friends and I just because I like my friends. Also I picked a lot of patterns because I like using patterns because I feel as if you can do anything with patterns and many ideas can come from them, it also just looks really pretty so I had to use them in my book. I like overlapping things in the book and making it look like a collage, but at the same time make it look neat. Also I incorporated "love" in the book, like in one of the pages I put a picture of a 'couple' looking at each other and then on the cover I drew a couple, and by this, I'm just incorporating something that really means a lot to me.

Interpret- In this book, what I am trying to interpret or communicate is that I love life, earthy colors are my favorite, and that love is important to me. The whole purpose and point of this book is just to show people things that I like and what's important to me. Like the colors I picked are somewhat darker shades and I used green and brown and to me that represents stuff about the environment.

Judge- Since this was my first book, I think I did a pretty good job, it was the first time where I have to organize something like this and preparing for it was very hard, and I had to learn what is too much and what's not and what colors look good together. Just some things that I think I could improve on are the content of the book, like what designs to use and pictures and just putting everything together as a whole. Also I learned that leaving white spaces isn't so bad and that adding too much on a page isn't really a good thing.

Contact Sheets

My group wasn't able to make a contact sheet because this was the film that got burnt and everything was super dark and we didn't have time to re-shoot because we were falling behind.

Up Close and Personal

For this assignment Up Close and Personal, we took pictures of people up close and tried to get their expression and things they were doing at the time. This picture, I used Brianna as a model and when I took this, she was wearing a karate like suite and there was a huge bark from a tree and thought of the idea that she was breaking the bark as if she was breaking wood. I captured her expression and she "broke" the bark and tried to get the bark at the same time. I like this picture a lot because I think the lighting is right, she has expression in her face and you can infer what she is doing.

# Panning Photograph w/ Reflection

This picture was supposed to be a panning shot, where something is moving and we follow the movement and the background is blurry and something is in focus. The objects in this picture which would be me, christine and farhiya, we were running while the person taking the picture is moving back and taking the picture.
The way the work is organized is that, we tried to get the sky and have a large background, because the angle was taken from the bottom. This picture is just way too dark.
We weren't trying to interpret something, but it looks like we were having fun.
I don't like the picture because it is too dark and you can't really see our faces.

Shallow Depth of Field Photograph w/ Reflection

In this picture, we were doing a shallow depth of field where the background is supposed to be blurry and the object or person in the front is in focus. Or whatever you want to be in focus. So what I tried to do was take a picture of Christine doing a face, like a portrait while the background is out of focus.
The way this picture is organized is that, there isn't really any special way we tried to organize. We just tried to make the background blurry and Christine in focus.
We wanted Christine to make a funny face because it would be boring if she just smiled and not make a face. Her expression is what makes this photo interesting.
I like this photo because its not too dark and not too light, the lighting of the picture is perfect.

Element of Art or Principle of Design w/ Photograph by Artist from list

Photographer: Sebastiao Salgado
Unity: Unity in design is also called proximity. Unity provides cohesiveness to your designs. It is what pulls the elements together. Elements that are positioned close to one another are related while elements that are farther apart are less related.

Model Release Requirements for i-Phone Image

In this article, what its saying is that if you take pictures of models, you need a release form because if not, then the models can sue you. Also the author was wondering if you need a model release form for providing images for an iPhone slide show app. Then the law also gets involved too.

Photo in Black and White-1st assignment

This was my first time shooting with a film camera. In this picture, since we were just testing out the camera and seeing what we can take pictures of, my partner took a picture of me sitting in front of a tree. She took a picture of the whole tree and it looks like everything might be in focus.
We didn't really have concept for the picture, we just took a picture. But what we tried to do was include "lines" in it and be resourceful and work with what we had. The picture looks like it is in focus.
We didn't have an idea or meaning behind this picture. But we did shoot outside.
What I think of the work is, since this was our first time working with a film camera, we can do better the next time.
